Name up to three characters . . .
1. You wish were real so you could meet them:
My nine-year-old self casts her vote for Meg Murray from Madeleine L’Engle’s Wrinkle in Time books, Jill Pole from CS Lewis’s The Silver Chair, and Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. I think the four of us would be fast friends.
2. You would like to be:
That’s a tough one, because many of my favorite books fall into the Gothic category, and I’m not sure I’d like to live through any of those scenarios.
Abby Deal from A Lantern in her Hand to satisfy my prairie-girl fantasies.
Althea Vestrit from The Liveship Traders series. She has a hell of an adventure, but if I were as strong and brave as Althea I know I’d survive.
If I could live my teenage years again I’d like to do them as Shay from Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies trilogy.
3. Who scare you:
Mrs. Danvers from Rebecca.
Cordelia from Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood. She’s the worst girl you ever knew in middle school.
The vampires in Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. That book is one of the scariest I’ve ever read.
The book for work this morning was a dishy trashy chick lit delight.
