What new books are you looking forward to most in 2008? Something new being published this year? Something you got as a gift for the holidays? Anything in particular that you’re planning to read in 2008 that you’re looking forward to? A classic, or maybe a best-seller from 2007 that you’re waiting to appear in paperback?
I’ve got four new books I’m waiting for:
Dreamsongs Volume 2 by George RR Martin–more short stories and his novella “The Hedge Knight,” set in the same world as A Song of Ice and Fire.
Renegade’s Magic by Robin Hobb–the closing volume in her Soldier Son trilogy.
Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder–more in the adventures of the intrepid Yelena.
The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray–I haven’t blogged about the first two books in this series, which are set in an English girls’ boarding school at the turn of the century.
Plus, I still have an insanely huge TBR stack, with some classics like Moll Flanders and Daniel Deronda.
I wasn’t too impressed with Moll Flanders. I saw the Daniel Deronda movie and am a big fan of Eliot.
I loved Middlemarch.
I seldom watch movies based on books. That too, classics!
I’m heard wonderful things about the Maria Snyder books. I haven’t gotten my hands on ‘Poison Study’ yet though.
gautami–they are often a disappointment,
karen–welcome & great blog!
I’m looking forward to Fire Study too. And The Sweet Far Thing was a fantastic read – I think it’s my favorite in the series because of the history and women’s rights issues that Libba Bray brings into it.
ooh–tantalizing, Em! I hope I get to read it soon!
Middlemarch is one of my all-time favorites, and I have Daniel Deronda on my tbr pile. Hope we both get to it this year!
me too–I have not found much time to read lately 🙁
Sounds like a great set to look forward to. I hope all’s well with the baby! 😀
oh, she’s wonderful!
